2008 ALSA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS
THE FOLLOWING PERTAINS TO ALL 2008 REGIONAL SHOWS.
FOR INFORMATION REGARDING A SPECIFIC REGIONAL, REFER TO THE
REGIONAL INFORMATION SHEETS.
ALSA MEMBER: All participants in Regional
Championship Shows must be an ALSA member.
DEADLINE: Entries must be postmarked as described by
regional entry forms.
QUALIFYING: Please see the ALSA rulebook for determining
qualification. The latest edition is posted on the website. You may
enter whichever Region you prefer. Lists of qualifiers will be
posted on the ALSA website. All ALSA Champions and ROMs
are automatically qualified. Ultimate Youth awardees are
automatically qualified for all Youth Classes. Superior Awardees
are automatically qualified for that particular class.
HALTER CLASSES: Each llama must be entered in its
appropriate age and wool division at the time of the Regional
Championship Show, regardless of the age or wool division in
which it initially qualified. If you qualified at a show where wool
divisions were combined (Light/Medium or Medium/Heavy) you
must choose the correct division for the regional show.
YOUTH CLASSES: In the Llama or Alpaca Youth Classes,
the same animal MUST be used that the youth qualified with
during the current show season.
PRODUCE OF DAM & GET OF SIRE: All Get of Sire
and Produce of Dam regional class entries must include get and
produce that have been part of a qualifying Get of Sire or Produce
of Dam entry at an ALSA show. Any other offspring of the same
sire or dam may be shown provided the offspring has been shown
at an ALSA Show during the current ALSA year. These offspring
must be recorded with ALSA.
Juveniles shown for the first time at a regional championship
show are not eligible to be shown as part of a Produce
or Get entry.
SPONSORS: Check your regional information sheets for
opportunities to help sponsor classes, championships or
special show awards.
ALPACAS: Will show in Advanced Alpaca or Youth Alpaca
Classes at the Regional Show even if they qualified in a
combined alpaca/llama class during the current show season.
POINTS: Points awarded for Regional Championship shows
will be doubled.
PERFORMANCE DIVISIONS: A llama may show in one
Performance Division (Youth or Advanced), except for an animal
entered in Pleasure or Obstacle Driving. Those animals may
show in Advanced Performance or Youth Classes and in one or
both Classes of the Driving Division.
ADVANCED PACK CLASS: For llamas 36 months
and over, each exhibitor must have their own pack weighted so
that the total weight of the pack is 40 pounds minimum.
Alpacas 36 months and older must carry a pack system with a
total weight of 10 lbs. The panniers are to be bulked out with
newspaper.
For llamas and alpacas 5 through 35 months, each exhibitor
must have their own pack filled out with lightweight bulky
items.
REFUND: No refunds will be paid after the deadline for
entry.
STALLS: Stalls will be pre-assigned by the regional staff.
FARM DISPLAY: Check your Regional information
sheet for the availability and cost of farm displays.
ADVERTISING: Check your regional information
sheet for the availability and cost of advertising in
the show program.
JUVENILES: Juveniles do not have to pre qualify for
Regionals. Any juvenile at least 5 months old you may enter a
Regional show. The animal must be registered with the ILR.
